Whirling Assault Titan Endgame — Full Guide (0.5.4)
Source: maxroll.gg/poe2/build-guides/whirling-assault-titan-endgame-build-guide Version: Path of Exile 2 — 0.5.4 (Early Access) Class: Warrior → Titan | Main skills: Whirling Assault
Build Overview
Whirling Assault Titan is a melee clearing monster built entirely around Whirling Assault. The concept is simple: turn your character into a "giant walking vortex." The Titan ascendancy node Hulking Form combined with heavy % increased Area of Effect investment on the tree grows the whirlwind's damage area until it covers nearly the whole screen — every other hit sweeps everything on it.
The design philosophy:
- Clear: practically one-button (just Whirling Assault), occasionally weaving in Mantra/Charged Staff to keep damage buffs up
- Single target: a fixed combo (open with Whirling Assault → Heavy Stun → Tempest Bell → Mantra → Charged Staff → keep spinning)
- Defense: The Brass Dome provides an ocean of armour, amplified by the Titan node Stone Skin — physical one-shots basically don't happen
- Damage type: primarily physical, supplemented by conversion / crit scaling
The build performs rock-solid across all endgame content — maps, bosses, and Atlas Tree farming.
Skills In Depth
Leveling
The original page splits leveling into a separate guide, so this endgame writeup skips per-act skill setups. Follow the official Whirling Assault Leveling Guide, switch to Whirling Assault as your main skill as soon as you get it, and consider yourself "in endgame" once The Brass Dome is on.
Mapping
Main skill: Whirling Assault
Supports / Lineage setup:
- Ancestral Call II — your attacks also strike nearby enemies
- Channelled Heritage — extra damage
- Atalui's Bloodletting — Lineage support, core sustain
- Garukhan's Resolve — Lineage support; the author calls it "the single most impactful item for this build," massively boosting crit damage
- Uul-Netol's Embrace — Lineage support, grants the Fully Broken Armour bonus
Clear rhythm: hold Whirling Assault while walking; every other hit the vortex expands to full-screen size and erases entire rows of monsters.
Bossing
| Step | Action | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Open with Whirling Assault | Keep attacking until the boss is Heavy Stunned |
| 2 | Drop Tempest Bell | Place the bell next to the boss so the whirlwind hits both |
| 3 | Mantra of Destruction | Generates Power Charges |
| 4 | Charged Staff | Consumes Power Charges for a big added physical damage buff (~20 seconds) |
| 5 | Finish with Whirling Assault | Until the boss dies |
Tempest Bell is supported by the Zerphi's Infamy Lineage support. Mantra of Destruction takes Ailith's Chimes , and later Empowered Sparks / Charge Profusion.
Auras / Buffs (100 Spirit, late game)
- Herald of Ash — added fire damage and chain-clearing explosions
- Berserk — spends Rage for big bonuses. Warning: while Berserk is active, if you aren't draining Rage you drain life instead — make sure gloves or a ring carry "Leech % of Physical Attack Damage as Life" to refill it
- Scavenged Plating — a physical mitigation layer
Skill Rotation
Mapping: spin to win; refresh Mantra → Charged Staff every ~15–20 seconds; pop Berserk situationally. Boss: Whirling Assault → Heavy Stun → Tempest Bell → Mantra → Charged Staff → keep spinning.
Ascendancy (Titan)
Take the points in order:
- Colossal Capacity — pure travel node; the only "functional" perk is a bigger inventory, no combat impact
- Hulking Form — one of the strongest ascendancy nodes in the game. Significantly amplifies every non-attribute small passive on your tree (including Time-Lost jewels) — the root of this build's exploding AoE
- Stone Skin — synergizes with The Brass Dome: Brass Dome is the highest-armour chest in the game, and Stone Skin multiplies that armour further
- Fourth point (pick one):
- Crushing Impacts — makes the single-target combo (Mantra + Charged Staff + Tempest Bell) more consistent and adds damage (recommended)
- Mysterious Lineage — if you still feel squishy in high-tier content, trade for survivability
Passive Tree
Priorities / Key Notables
- Light on Your Feet — key immunity + a pile of movement speed
- Momentum — complements Light on Your Feet
- Gem Enthusiast — requires "at least 10 red/green support gems socketed"; huge payoff
- Blood Magic Keystone — solves every mana problem in one node. Can be dropped once you have the Atalui's Bloodletting Lineage support
- Goring + the nearby small Life Leech nodes — your leech core
- Vaal Pact (transformed via Undying Hate) — make sure Undying Hate shows the "in tribute to Amanamu" text or the transformation won't apply
- Ignore Pain — Rage also counts toward your stun threshold, dramatically improving stun resistance
Attribute strategy: allocate just enough Intelligence / Dexterity for gear + gem requirements, then dump every remaining point into Strength for life.
Budget version: run the Budget Setup with your first 90 passive points, then transition to the main tree.
The Constricting Command variant : this helmet trades AoE and crit for +287.5% increased damage and extra movement speed. It requires keeping "4 or fewer enemies nearby" at all times — for experienced pilots chasing maximum single target.
Stat Priority
Offense (heaviest to lightest)
- Weapon physical damage — always first (craft it on a Skullcrusher Quarterstaff)
- Fully Broken Armour (from Uul-Netol's Embrace)
- Critical Hit Chance & Critical Damage Bonus — the real key to single-target DPS
- % increased Area of Effect / Area Damage
- Increased Maximum Rage & Rage Effectiveness (with Berserk)
- Generic % increased damage — Attack Damage, Damage with Two-Handed Weapons
- Added physical / elemental damage
- Melee / Attack Skill levels (further scales Whirling Assault)
Defense (heaviest to lightest)
- 75% in all three resistances (fire/cold/lightning; Brass Dome carries -1 max res, so gear effectively caps you at 74%)
- Maximum Life
- Armour (synergizes with Brass Dome)
- Chaos resistance — capped via Soul Core of Tacati + Against the Darkness
- % of Armour also Applies to Elemental Damage — lets armour absorb elemental hits
- Rage counts toward stun threshold (Ignore Pain)
Gearing
Three broad stages
| Stage | Focus | Key items |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign | Capped res + weapon physical | Follow the leveling guide |
| Early Mapping | Equip The Brass Dome, patch resistances | The Brass Dome + any rares |
| Endgame | Collect the Lineage gems + Ryslatha's Coil → Headhunter | The Brass Dome / Constricting Command / Headhunter / Rite of Passage |
Slot by slot
| Slot | Recommendation | Mods / notes |
|---|---|---|
| Helmet | Rare (default) / Constricting Command (high-end) | Rare: armour, resistances; Constricting Command: +10–15 all attributes, extra 287.5% increased damage |
| Body Armour | The Brass Dome (mandatory) | Aim for the -1 max all res roll; the endgame chase is a 600%+ increased Armour corruption |
| Gloves | Rare | Must carry "Leech % of Physical Attack Damage as Life" somewhere; then armour / resistances / life / added damage; Idol socket gets a Boar Idol (Rage on hit) |
| Boots | Rare | Life / armour / movement speed / resistances / "Armour applies to elemental damage taken" |
| Belt | Ryslatha's Coil → Headhunter | The latter is the ultimate luxury |
| Amulet | Rite of Passage | Rarity / elemental resistances / skill speed / movement speed / added lightning; budget: Spirit of the Cat / Wolf or a Golden Charm |
| Rings | Rare | Resistances to 74% and life first; ring covers Leech if gloves didn't roll it; added damage and crit are luxuries |
| Weapon | Skullcrusher Quarterstaff (base) | Do NOT pick a Dreaming Quarterstaff (higher base damage but 0% crit); craft physical damage deterministically with Omens + Essences |
| Offhand | None (two-handed) | — |
| Jewels (required) | Against the Darkness (chaos res) + Time-Lost Emerald | The Time-Lost Emerald needs "≥17% increased effect of small passives in radius"; with Hulking Form, "3% increased damage with hits against rare/unique" gets amplified to 5% |
Budget jewels: hunt Time-Lost jewels with "Gain 1 Rage on melee hit" first, then generic damage.
Mana Sustain
- Early / mid: the Blood Magic Keystone on the tree — every mana cost becomes a life cost
- Late: once you have the Atalui's Bloodletting Lineage support, respec out of Blood Magic and reinvest those points into damage / life
- Life refill: gloves or a ring MUST carry "Leech % of Physical Attack Damage as Life" — it's also what keeps Berserk from draining you
Tips & Tricks
- Berserk care: you only lose life while Rage is draining in combat; during full-screen AoE boss phases, deliberately pause and let Rage run out
- Weapon sets: this build doesn't use tree-based weapon swapping, but you still need weapon and skills assigned to Weapon Set 2 so the Rigwald's Ferocity Lineage support works correctly
- Attribute emergencies: re-roll attributes for gold at the Hooded One / Doryani, or swap in an Undying Hate with any attribute roll
- Crit before anything for bosses: after Mantra → Charged Staff, your burst comes from crits — gear crit is the true single-target ceiling
- Chaos res: Soul Core of Tacati + the Against the Darkness jewel is the standard answer
- Atlas Tree: farm your main Atlas Tree until boss keys get affordable; the build especially shines in:
- Temple farming (huge AoE)
- Abyss (note: hard to pull monsters out of Void Clouds)
- Expedition (avoid Phys Immunity remnants)
- Constricting Command variant: you must keep "≤4 enemies nearby" to get the full surrounded effect — active repositioning required
Summary
Whirling Assault Titan is THE low-floor, reliably-high-ceiling build of PoE2 0.5.4.
- Core strength: Hulking Form × AoE stacking turns the whirlwind into a full-screen eraser
- Core defense: The Brass Dome × Stone Skin — the highest armour on the planet
- Core burst: the Mantra + Charged Staff + Tempest Bell three-piece single-target combo
- Ascendancy route: Colossal Capacity → Hulking Form → Stone Skin → Crushing Impacts (or Mysterious Lineage)
With The Brass Dome plus a few core Lineage supports (Atalui's Bloodletting / Garukhan's Resolve / Uul-Netol's Embrace), you can comfortably complete all endgame content.
