Siege Cascade Tactician — Full Guide (0.5.4)

Build Overview
Siege Cascade Tactician is a ranged build built on physical damage + Bleed. Your main skill, Siege Cascade, rains auto-targeting explosive bolts from the sky — the more monsters, the more bolts. Each bolt has two stages:
- Stage one applies Pin on hit; with the ascendancy node Right Where We Want Them, pinned enemies cannot act.
- Stage two is the explosion, dealing massively increased damage to already-pinned targets.
The build's core loop = open with Pin → trigger Right Where We Want Them → repeatedly detonate Siege Cascade on pinned targets.
Pin is both crowd control (an immobile enemy = a defensive layer) and an offensive multiplier (bonus damage against Immobilised targets). That gives the build both active mitigation and multiplicative damage at once.

Skills Breakdown
Leveling
Don't rush into Siege Cascade while leveling (the gem requires level 72). Run Grenades through the entire Campaign:
| Purpose | Skill | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main clear | Explosive Grenade | AoE explosion; multiplies output against big packs |
| Secondary clear | Gas Grenade | Leaves a gas cloud DoT, detonatable by Explosive Grenade |
| Control | Oil Grenade | Leaves oil that can be ignited for big AoE fire damage |
| Panic button | Flash Grenade | Blind, escape/interrupt |
| Boss res reduction | Elemental Weakness (curse) | Cast manually before boss fights |
Tip: maximize hits while leveling — lob grenades right onto a pack, and once Explosive Grenade detonates the Gas Cloud the whole screen vanishes.
Mapping
After the Bleed transition, mapping becomes dead simple:
| Slot | Skill | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main damage | Siege Cascade | Near-fully automatic targeting |
| Aura | Herald of Blood | Enemies explode on death for X% of their max life as phys — lightning-fast clear |
| Aura | Eternal Rage | 100 spirit → drops to 50 after taking A Solid Plan |
Normal/magic/rare monsters usually get pinned and deleted by a single Siege Cascade.
Bossing
| Slot | Skill | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Control opener | Artillery Ballista | Pre-place before the boss spawns; builds Pin continuously |
| Burst | War Banner | Drop the instant before the boss gets pinned — big damage boost |
| Assist | Mirage Archer | Mainly for bosses late game; trigger it repeatedly by dodge rolling |
| Main damage | Siege Cascade | Infinite spam once the Pin lands |
Auras / Buffs
- Herald of Blood — clear core, execution-style explosions
- Eternal Rage — sustained Rage; maxes out the Berserk multiplier
- Berserk — endgame-only; constant life drain, offset with Greater Rebirth Runes + Vitality II
- War Banner — single-target banner
- Mirage Archer — roll-triggered bonus damage
- Combat Frenzy + Charge Regulation — a constant 15% more skill speed
Total spirit budget: ≈ 190, requiring A Solid Plan + Morior Invictus (40-56 spirit) + a +spirit amulet to fit everything.
Skill Rotation
Mapping:
- Run and press Siege Cascade; Herald of Blood finishes the rest → next pack.
Bosses:
- Pre-place Artillery Ballista before the boss spawns; recast the moment it expires.
- Build Pin with regular Siege Cascades.
- The instant Pin is about to complete, drop War Banner + trigger Mirage Archer (dodge roll).
- Once pinned, spam Siege Cascade relentlessly.
- Repeat until the boss falls.
Ascendancy (Tactician)
Take the nodes in this order:
- Suppressing Fire — faster Immobilisation (Pin) buildup; early QoL.
- Right Where We Want Them — the soul of the build. Lets any Projectile damage apply Pin, and pinned enemies cannot act; one of the strongest ascendancy nodes in the game.
- A Solid Plan — nearly doubles your spirit efficiency (Eternal Rage drops from 100 to 50), letting you fit every persistent buff.
- Polish That Gear — defensive point, extra Deflection rating; very important late game.
Passive Tree
Allocation Priority / Key Notables
Leveling phase:
- Grenade clusters
- Crossbow damage clusters
- Life
After the Bleed Swap (Lv 72+):
- Rusted Pins — the core Pin enhancer
- Perfectly Placed Knife — bleed burst
- Wasting — bleed enhancement
- Pin Buildup — buildup speed
- Pin their Motivation — more damage against Pinned targets
- Fast Metabolism — life recovery
- Tempered Defences — defense
- Sand in the Eyes — blind on hit (defensive layer)
- Long term: jewel socket nodes + bleed magnitude
Stat Priorities
Offense (by weight)
- A physical damage Crossbow — the No. 1 damage source
- Projectile / Attack skill levels (amulet, gear)
- Flat damage on rings / gloves
- Magnitude of Bleeding — from passives/jewels
- Attack Speed
- Armour Break on Pin
- Generic % damage (Projectile / Physical / Attack)
- Gain X% of damage as extra Physical
- Projectile Speed (with Projectile Acceleration III)
- Damage against Immobilised targets (passives, Siege Cascade quality, gear)
Bleed mechanics: damage scales off your hit. Only one Bleed can exist at a time; damage is higher while the target moves or with an Aggravated Bleed.
Defense (by weight)
- Pin from attacks — enemies that can't attack can't hurt you; the strongest defensive layer in the game
- Blind on hit (Sand in the Eyes)
- The Greatwolf's Rune of Willpower — makes Mana absorb damage before Life
- Tri-res (fire/cold/lightning) capped at 75%
- Armour
- Life
- Physical Damage Leeched as Life
- X% of Armour also applies to Elemental Damage
Gearing Strategy
Campaign
Focus: keep the weapon upgraded, stack life and resistances on armour, flat phys on rings.
| Slot | Priority Affixes |
|---|---|
| Crossbow | Buy from vendors continuously / self-craft with Greater Essence of Abrasion + Greater Iron Runes |
| Body / Helmet / Gloves / Boots | Life, tri-res |
| Rings | Flat Physical Damage to Attacks, tri-res |
| Belt | Life, tri-res |
| Amulet | +1 to Projectile/Attack skills, attributes |
Early Mapping (Siege Cascade transition, Lv 72)
| Slot | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Crossbow | Gemini Crossbow as a bridge; chase % Phys, +Projectile/Attack levels, Damage gained as Extra Phys |
| Body | High Life + tri-res |
| Helmet | Life + tri-res |
| Gloves | Bridge mana with "Leech % Physical Attack Damage as Mana" on a temporary ring |
| Boots | Life + tri-res + movement speed |
| Belt | Bleed/Life, transitioning into Ryslatha's Coil |
| Amulet | +2 to +3 to Projectile skills |
| Rings | Flat Phys + tri-res + attributes |
Endgame
Core Unique acquisition order:
- Ratha's Assault (gloves) — dodge roll auto-reloads your crossbow → solves mana in one slot
- Morior Invictus (body/gloves) — tons of spirit + flexible attribute coverage
- Ryslatha's Coil (belt) — "no better belt short of Headhunter"
- Sine Aequo (gloves) — big damage boost + Pin threshold drops from 100% to 50% (Arbiter of Ash drop)
Ultimate endgame pieces:
- Headhunter (belt) — the final chase; its attribute flood solves your allocation and stat problems outright
- Prism of Belief (amulet) — hunt for the +3 to level of Siege Cascade version
- A +3 to level of all Projectile Skills amulet + high-rolled double rings
- Excellent Emerald jewels, including a Time-Lost Emerald in the bottom-left socket
Mana Sustain
The core solution = Ratha's Assault: dodge roll = reload, fundamentally removing the manual reload overhead.
Bridge before Ratha's Assault:
- Ring affix "Leech X% of Physical Attack Damage as Mana"
Spirit budget (target ~190):
- Base: 100
- Morior Invictus: +40-56
- Amulet: +the rest
If short on spirit, temporarily disable Mirage Archer and keep Eternal Rage / War Banner / Herald of Blood running.
Gameplay Tips
- Pin strategy
- Normal/magic/rare monsters: usually pinned by one Siege Cascade
- Bosses: pre-place Artillery Ballista for a head start on Pin buildup
- Sine Aequo cuts the Pin threshold to 50% — doubles your uptime
- Persistent buffs
- Keep Herald of Blood on at all times for trash
- Add Eternal Rage the moment you take A Solid Plan (third ascendancy)
- Berserk drains life constantly → pair with Greater Rebirth Runes + Vitality II
- Drop War Banner the instant before the boss Pin lands
- Dodge roll frequently to keep Mirage Archer triggering
- Gear upgrade cadence
- Weapon > everything
- Keep tri-res capped at 75% at all times
- Don't rush the switch from grenades to Siege Cascade — undergeared, it only gets harder
- Gem quality scales linearly with level; keep it current
Summary
Siege Cascade Tactician is a ranged physical bleed build where control and damage are deeply intertwined. The core ideas:
- Use Pin to completely disable bosses/elites — it's both defense and a damage multiplier.
- Right Where We Want Them turns any projectile damage into Pin.
- A Solid Plan unlocks the spirit budget to run Herald/Eternal Rage/War Banner simultaneously.
- Ratha's Assault permanently solves mana, freeing your hands for pure damage output.
- Sine Aequo halves the Pin threshold, doubling uptime and melting bosses.
Perfect for players who like "one main button, rhythm-driven" gameplay — still one of the most reliable Mercenary/Tactician endgame builds in 0.5.4.
