Arc Stormweaver — Full Guide (0.5.4)
Source: maxroll.gg/poe2/build-guides/arc-stormweaver-build-guide Version: Path of Exile 2 — 0.5.4 Class: Sorceress → Stormweaver | Main skills: Arc
Build Overview
Arc Stormweaver is a lightning caster built around the Arc + Orb of Storms interaction. The loop is dead simple: Orb of Storms zaps the ground and generates Lightning Infusions; walk over to pick one up and your next Arc fires with +200% More Damage, +6 extra chains, and +50% Shock magnitude — instantly clearing the screen or bursting a boss.
Once you pick up Archmage, spell damage scales directly off Maximum Mana, so gearing pivots to stacking Mana + Energy Shield (ES). At 6000+ ES you swap to Chaos Inoculation (CI) for immunity to chaos damage and bleed. Fastest campaign clears run about 4 hours, with Arbiter reachable at around 8.
Pacing and feel:
- Ranged spellcaster / chaining lightning / big AoE
- Medium APM: cycle Orb of Storms → Arc, weaving in Frost Bomb / Elemental Weakness / Sigil of Power / Mana Tempest on bosses
- "Don't Get Hit" playstyle — low forgiveness; you kite to keep ES recharge going
Pros
- Strong AoE clear; Arc chains through whole packs
- Huge ES scaling ceiling; CI grants chaos / bleed immunity
- No mandatory uniques
- Fast leveling
Cons
- "Can't-get-hit" playstyle; boss fights require kiting at range
- Heavy pickup dependency (you must walk over Lightning Infusions and Mana Remnants)
- Mana management leans on Cost Efficiency mods and Remnant pickups
Skills In Depth
Leveling (Lv 1 – Lv 14)
- Spark — main clear skill until Lv 14
- Frost Bomb — Cold Exposure; open boss fights with it to shred resistance
- Flame Wall — extra boss damage
- Lightning Bolt — built into the Voltaic Staff; combos with Unleash for big bursts
- Orb of Storms — from Lv 6+ drop it in packs for extra damage
Mapping (Lv 14+)
- Arc — main clear AND main single target
- Orb of Storms — generates Lightning Infusions to feed Arc
- Mana Tempest (Lv 22+) — AoE / projectile splitting for large packs
- Sigil of Power (Lv 25+) — stacking More Spell Damage; always up on bosses
- Siphon Elements — auto-generates infusion Remnants when enemies are Chilled/Ignited/Shocked
- Mana Remnants — automated mana sustain (crit + ailments)
Bossing
- Pre-place ×2 before the boss spawns to bank 2 Lightning Infusions
- Frost Bomb for Cold Exposure
- Drop 2 more Orbs of Storms to keep infusions flowing
- Dump Arc to consume infusions (each infusion = +200% More Damage + 6 chains)
- Elemental Weakness for the curse (early on it also triggers Archon of the Storm)
- Turn on Mana Tempest once Remnants are plentiful
- Stand in Sigil of Power and let it stack
- Living Bomb (later, with Arbiter's Ignition) on the boss to spawn an Elemental Archon
Auras / Reservation / Permanent Buffs
- Archmage (your mapping workhorse; needs +60 Spirit, dropping to +51 at 20% Quality)
- Archon of the Storm (triggered early via Elemental Weakness)
- Arcane Surge (kept up permanently by the Constant Gale ascendancy node)
- Constant Gale (ascendancy: permanent Cast Speed + Mana Regen)
Skill Rotation
Mapping loop
Orb of Storms → Arc (consume Infusion, clear the pack) → move → repeat
Big packs: weave in one Mana Tempest
Boss loop
Pre-place Orb of Storms ×2, bank 2 Infusions
Boss spawns → Frost Bomb → Orb of Storms ×2 → unload Arc
→ Elemental Weakness → Sigil of Power → Mana Tempest
→ Maintenance: refresh Frost Bomb / Elemental Weakness / Orb of Storms
Ascendancy (Stormweaver)
Take the nodes in this order:
- Constant Gale (Act 2, first ascendancy from Trial of Sekhemas)
- Permanent Arcane Surge: Cast Speed + Mana Regen
- Strike Twice (second ascendancy around Lv 40, Trial of Chaos)
- Enables double Shock — from here on, Shock Magnitude / Ailment Magnitude become core damage mods
- Storm's Recollection (third; 3-floor Sekhemas or 4-floor combined Trial)
- Larger Remnant pickup radius; Remnants respawn once, effectively doubling mana sustain + single-target damage
- Heavy Snows (fourth, preferred)
- Double Chill slows enemy action speed — a lifesaver in clutch moments
- Alternatives: Force of Will (big recovery during mana crises) or Refracted Infusion (more infusions from Frost Bomb / Living Bomb / Siphon Elements)

- Nascent Hope Charm (replaces the Thawing Charm)
Aspirational
- Wand with Hedgewitch Assandra's Rune of Wisdom + Thane Girt's Rune of Wildness

- Gloves rolled with Essence of Horror for 60% Socketed Effect, corrupted to 3 sockets: Hedgewitch + Thane Grannell + Fenumus' Rune of Spinning
- Rings swapped to Breach Rings (higher Maximum Mana ceiling)
- Headhunter (Belt — solves attributes + damage + speed all at once); look for + ES / Resistance / Attribute corrupted enchants
- Option: Ingenuity (amplifies every mod on your rings)
- Megalomaniac with Frazzled / The Spring Hare / Calibration / Momentum
- Dialla's Desire linked to Archmage (relaxes the body armour's Spirit requirement)
- Spirit of the Owl / Spirit of the Stag Charm
Min-Max
- Atziri's Splendour + a dedicated Spirit Amulet + Dialla's Desire to feed Archmage
- Sanctification on Wand / Amulet / Focus for another tier of +Levels
- Helmet corrupted to 3 sockets; Boots corrupted with the 5% MS enchant
- 21/23 Corrupted Gems
- Uhtred's Augury linked to Mana Remnants (min-max)
Mana Sustain
Three approaches, run in parallel, from most to least important:
- Cost Efficiency (the best answer)
- Notables: Efficient Casting / Conservative Casting
- % increased Cost Efficiency gear mods
- Mana Remnant pickups (automation)
- Storm's Recollection ascendancy (Remnants respawn once)
- Needs ≥30% Crit to generate reliably
- Notables: Arcane Remnants / Empowering Remnants
- Mana Regen / Recovery
- Force of Will ascendancy (significant recovery at low mana)
- % inc Mana Regen on gear, manual mana flasking
Stopgaps (tight budget):
- Temporarily slot the Efficiency II support gem
- Hold Mana Tempest until Remnants are plentiful
- Pre-place Orbs of Storms before boss fights to bank Infusions and ease mana pressure
The endgame answer: Lavianga's Spirits (no more mana flasking, provided you have 30%+ Crit).
Tips & Tricks
Positioning / survival
- Dodge roll + constant movement are the foundation of fast leveling
- "Weave in and out" — engage → back off → let ES recharge to full
- Never roll INTO packs; Arc and Orb of Storms are both ranged
- The Chill from your fourth ascendancy, Heavy Snows, is your key survival window
Lightning Infusion management
- Infusions are not auto-collected — you must walk over them
- When a boss has a spawn delay, bank infusions in advance
- Re-placing Orb of Storms on cooldown IS your DPS — forget it and your output flatlines
- Later, Siphon Elements automates generation and saves you the manual work
Buff / rotation pitfalls
- Forgetting Sigil of Power → massively reduced damage in long boss fights
- Forgetting to refresh Frost Bomb / Elemental Weakness → Exposure / Curse downtime
- Wrong weapon set — Arc / Orb of Storms / Mana Tempest live on Set 1; Frost Bomb / Elemental Weakness / Sigil of Power / Living Bomb on Set 2
- Early on, no Elemental Weakness = no Archon = no single-target; later, the same applies to Living Bomb and the Elemental Archon
IIR (Item Rarity) targets
- Early maps: 100% IIR (the floor)
- ASAP: 150% IIR (steep payoff)
- Past 150%: sharply diminishing returns — stop force-stacking it
Defensive layers
- Prioritize ES bases on Body / Helmet / Gloves / Boots
- Take plenty of % inc Maximum ES on the tree
- Elemental Charms + Amethyst (early chaos) + Stone + Thawing + Dousing + Staunching
Summary
Arc Stormweaver is a lightning caster with a rock-bottom budget floor and a genuinely high ceiling:
- Core loop is simple and clean: Orb of Storms feeds Infusions → Arc consumes them → chain explosions across the screen
- Scaling axis is Maximum Mana (Archmage) + Skill Levels + Ailment Magnitude
- Defensive axis is ES → CI, with Heavy Snows providing active slow control
- Key uniques are Arbiter's Ignition and Sione's Temper (neither mandatory); Headhunter is the high-end power spike
Perfect for players who love the "kite at range, melt everything with chains" fantasy — as long as you accept the rhythm of kiting, pickups, and buff upkeep.
