Skeletal Sniper Infernalist — Full Guide (0.5.4)
Source: maxroll.gg/poe2/build-guides/skeletal-sniper-infernalist-build-guide Version: Path of Exile 2 — 0.5.4 Class: Witch → Infernalist | Main skills: Skeletal Sniper (Summon Skeletons system)
Build Overview
This is a pure summoner Witch · Infernalist whose core burst comes from Skeletal Snipers. You never deal damage yourself — you play the commander / support role:
- Field a mixed skeleton army of Snipers (main DPS) + Reavers (frontline tanks) + Clerics (healing) + a Storm Mage (Shock, triggering Muster) + Brutes (Intimidate);
- Amplify damage with Pain Offering / Despair / Vulnerability buffs and debuffs;
- Use the Skeletal Sniper Command skill to fire Gas Arrows at ignited enemies for explosions — your hardest-hitting single-target tool;
- Early on, Volcano spawns Raging Spirits (fire minions) that swarm faces; mid-to-late game they give way to auto-attacking Skeletal Reavers + Gargantuan Wasp Spectres;
- Defense runs on Energy Shield + Block + the Infernal Hound's mitigation aura + reactive Convalescence recovery.
The build needs no mandatory uniques and runs from league start through T16+ maps; later you can layer in Evergrasping Ring / Bones of Ullr / Prism Guardian / Uul-Netol's Embrace for more damage and utility.
Pros
- Comes online with zero uniques — perfect for first-time players;
- Seamless transition from leveling into mapping, no rebuild required;
- Layered defense (ES, block, minion mitigation, Infernal Hound, Convalescence);
- Minions fight on their own — boss-fight APM is low.
Cons
- Spirit budgeting is fiddly; you'll keep re-tuning the minion ratio;
- Boss fights still demand manual buffs/debuffs — not fully AFK;
- The ES route needs reliable recovery mechanics;
- High Int / Dex / Str demands put real pressure on gear affixes.

Bossing
Late-game min-max:
- Skeletal Sniper + Multishot I + Feeding Frenzy + Dialla's Desire
- Skeletal Reavers + Tecrod's Revenge + Uul-Netol's Embrace + an extra damage gem (with the Melee Splash belt)
- Gargantuan Wasp Spectres + Esh's Radiance + an extra damage gem

Auras / Buffs / Reservation
Summon Infernal Hound + Loyalty (early/mid) → Romira's Requital (late) — a constant 10% damage reduction Volcano + Arcane Surge — automatic mana recovery Elemental Weakness + Efficiency I — lower mana cost Pain Offering + Efficiency I (optional) — lower mana cost Convalescence — emergency ES refill when the shield bottoms out
Skill Rotation
Early loop (Acts 1–4):
- Volcano (ignite the ground + spawn Raging Spirits)
- Command the Skeletal Snipers to fire Gas Arrows
- Frost Bomb for Exposure
- (Later) Pain Offering / Elemental Weakness / Unearth
Mid loop (mapping):
- Skeletal Reaver Command → Enrage
- Pain Offering (damage buff)
- Skeletal Brute Command → Intimidate (enemies deal -10% damage)
- Despair (curse)
- Unearth (corpses)
- Convalescence when ES drops
Late loop (min-max, nearly automatic):
- Reaver Enrage
- Pain Offering pre-buff
- Despair
- Brute Intimidate
- Reactive Convalescence
- Minions auto-attack everything to death
Ascendancy (Infernalist)
Take the points in this order:
- Loyal Hellhound — unlocks Summon Infernal Hound. With Fire Exposure the dog ignites and applies fire exposure; with the Loyalty support, you take -10% damage the entire time the dog lives.
- Altered Flesh — reduces physical damage taken based on Chaos Resistance; with max fire res capped you also gain cold/lightning mitigation. The defensive heart of this ES build.
- Beidat's Will — +25% maximum Spirit at the cost of reserving 25% of Life. Take it when Spirit runs dry mid-game.
- Beidat's Hand or the two Life nodes — Beidat's Hand by default; if you're under 1400 life with low Chaos Resistance, take the Life nodes as a bridge.

Mana Sustain
Three pillars:
- Volcano + Arcane Surge — mana refunds on every cast
- Elemental Weakness + Efficiency I — cheaper curses
- Pain Offering + Efficiency I (optional) — further savings
The original guide is emphatic: Volcano must carry Arcane Surge, and Elemental Weakness must carry Efficiency I — otherwise your mana bar won't hold.
Tips & Tricks
- Right-click to activate the Raging Spirits buff in the Skills Panel before casting Volcano — no buff, no fire spirits;
- Skeletal Sniper's Gas Arrow only explodes against ignited targets — Volcano is the core enabler;
- Never spend Spirit on extra Skeletal Warriors — the Rattling Sceptre's 2 freebies are enough;
- The Verisium Anvil Runeforge on Bones of Ullr adds 5% movement speed at essentially zero cost;
- Once your belt has "Minions' Strikes have Melee Splash," swap the Minion Splash II support for a pure damage gem;
- Roster priority: 6+ Snipers before adding Reavers — Snipers are the DPS core;
- Spend your Lesser Jeweller's Orbs on Skeletal Sniper first, then Raging Spirits;
- Bind Gargantuan Wasps in Ashen Forest — clear speed and Muster in one package;
- Convalescence is reactive — cast when ES drops, never pre-cast;
- The Infernal Hound + Loyalty 10% mitigation is continuous as long as the dog lives;
- The Skeletal Brute's Intimidate Command drops enemy damage by 10% — always use it on bosses.
Summary
Skeletal Sniper Infernalist is one of the most reliable full-summoner builds in 0.5.4:
- Levels to T16 with no uniques;
- Layered defense + self-sufficient minions keep boss-fight stress minimal;
- Spirit tuning + buff/debuff play offers depth for veterans while staying newbie-friendly;
- Every late-game unique is a quality-of-life leap, never a gate.
If you want a summoner that runs smoothly from Act 1 all the way to Pinnacle Bosses without a single rebuild — this is the answer.
